Bryan prepares for the magic of a decades-old tradition
Destination Bryan prepares to celebrate a decades-old tradition. The first known Christmas parade in Downtown Bryan took place in 1889, and now Destination Bryan hosts an annual variation of the tradition. This holiday event brings together residents and visitors, creating a festive atmosphere in Downtown Bryan filled with joy and holiday spirit. The Downtown Bryan Holiday Stroll & Lighted Parade, sponsored by WRI Tractors, showcases a vibrant display of lights and activities that reflect the rich culture and creativity of the community, which is set to take place on Thursday, December 12.
Scheduled in the heart of Downtown Bryan at 7:00 PM, the Lighted Parade features a variety of entries, including local schools, organizations, and businesses that come together to share their holiday cheer. Spectators can expect to see beautifully decorated floats, performers, and a special appearance by Santa Claus.
Everyone is encouraged to arrive early for the Holiday Stroll starting at 5:00 PM in Downtown Bryan. Businesses will host various family-friendly activities and specials as they are open later than usual. Indulge in a festive treat, create a fun craft, or do some holiday shopping.
The Holiday Stroll & Lighted Parade celebrates the holiday season by fostering a sense of community and togetherness. Families and friends gather to enjoy the festivities, creating lasting memories and traditions. The influx of visitors also benefits local businesses, as many attendees explore the area before and after the parade.
This long-standing tradition has been noted for bringing holiday cheer to the area for centuries. The Eagle noted in 1939, "Well, it was indeed a success! The Christmas parade last night. 'The biggest crowd I have ever seen on Main Street in Bryan,' was the remark made by many." Destination Bryan and its partners hope to continue to honor an adaptation of this time-honored tradition.
As the tradition continues, the parade brings together the community, allowing everyone to enjoy the holiday season. This event not only highlights the beauty of Downtown Bryan but also showcases the spirit of joy that defines the season.
